Artist Đào Tố Loan
Đào Tố Loan hails from Thái Nguyên. She is a versatile soprano, performing Western classical music, traditional Vietnamese music, and various other genres both in Vietnam and internationally.
She began her vocal training in 2006 and holds a Bachelor's degree in Performance from the Vietnam National Academy of Music (2014), and a Master's degree in Performance (2016).
Her mentors include Associate Professor Trần Thị Ngọc Lan, and she has also learned extensively from professors abroad such as Siri Torjesen (Norway), Elena Pankratova (Austria), and Michel (Canada).
In 2012, she received a scholarship from the Goethe Institute in Hanoi to study in Bonn and Frankfurt, Germany, for five months. In the summer of 2014, she received a scholarship from Transposition to participate in the Opera Lidal North Workshop at the Oslo Opera House. In 2018, she was awarded a nine-month scholarship in Austria.
Tố Loan's repertoire includes not only opera but also traditional Vietnamese songs, lieder, folk songs, and pop. She performs as a soloist in major events both domestically and internationally.
She has proudly performed leading roles in Vietnamese operas such as "Cô Sao" (Đỗ Nhuận), "Lá Đỏ" (Đỗ Hồng Quân), "Người Tạc Tượng" (Đỗ Nhuận), "Bài Ca Tình Yêu" by NS Doãn Nho, and "Huyền Diệu Biển" by NS Ngô Quốc Tính. Recently, she starred in the renowned Vietnamese opera "Công Nữ Anio" by NS Trần Mạnh Hùng, among others. She has also played roles in Western operas such as Queen in "The Queen of the Night," Massenet's "Cendrillon," and Mozart's "Don Giovanni." She will portray Violetta in Verdi's "La Traviata" in August 2024.
Her accolades include the first prize in the Sao Mai National Television Singing Contest in Vietnam (2011), first prize and audience choice award at the Opera Lidal North Workshop at the Oslo Opera House (2014), first prize in the Southeast Asian Opera Competition in Singapore (2018), second prize in the Vietnamese Opera Competition (2019), a gold medal at the Green Road Singing Festival (2019), and third place in the International Opera Competition in the United States (2021).
